What does dali mean light control?

With the help of DALI lighting controls (digital addressable lighting interface / digitally addressable lighting interface), in addition to solitary lights and extensive lighting systems, the illumination of complete buildings can also be controlled individually.

You can also implement complex light scenes, exceptional light productions as well as selective dimension and colored illumination. In short, with Dali light control, uncomplicated digital communication is carried out within a wide variety of electronic lighting techniques.

What can a smart dali control do for light?

With the help of the so-called bus system of the DALI lighting controls, even highly complex illuminations can be realized. With this system, among other things, switches can be programmed completely independently on different operating devices and for countless light scenes.

You can change the defined programming again at a later date. For individual components, remote maintenance and evaluation can also take place through feedback. The latter takes place using a central interface.

With this detailed control you can also evaluate the energy consumption of the individual lights. In addition, defective lights are marked, whereby the possible error due to the DALI light control in the system must always be understood. In order to comprehensively use the advantages of a DALI lighting control, PCs or tablets are usually used for operation.

Dali light control basics

In order for DALI to function properly, all components of the light systems must be equipped with a DALI interface. Each of the interfaces has a so -called short address, which enables communication with the main interface (Dali Gateway).

The individual commands are transmitted by control units such as sensors, switches and dimmers. The commands are aimed at operating equipment such as lights and are carried out by them. The bus system of a DALI light control also enables status reports of the individual operating devices, which are sent for detailed evaluation using the network.

Dali light control basics - versatility and the best possible efficiency

The DALI control for light uses a data protocol that uses a data rate of 1,200 bits/second at 16 volts. The data line should be insulated against external effects. In addition, there is no connection between management and power supply.

The network of the DALI light control can be built in different ways such as star -shaped, as a tree structure or line -shaped. However, a ring shape must be avoided. The length of the data line is a maximum of 300 meters.

Each lamp / each manufacturer can be assigned 16 groups that you can program with a maximum of 16 moods (light values). Each individual light value is designed for 254 steps. A maximum of 64 actuators per dali light control bus are allowed to run for a maximum of 2 milli amps (MA) electricity.

The entire Dali district is generally limited to 250 milli amps. A voltage drop that can occur between the operating device (actuator) and the transmitter may be a maximum of 2 volts (in accordance with the IEC 62386 standard). The protocol of the DALI lighting controls has around 200 commands through which a wide variety of projects can be mapped.

If necessary, the DALI control for light can be integrated into subordinate or overarching systems of a smart building automation using corresponding interfaces.

Enormous advantages of a Dali light control

The innovative Dali control for light is therefore a standard adjustment of different lighting systems. A DALI light control is therefore compatible with all brands and manufacturers of lighting technology that use this standard.

Currently, under the IEC 62386 standard, other DALI light control is already available that are not only valid for operating equipment, but also define certain rules for control units. Dali lighting controls can be used universally, such as for street lighting and office buildings. Due to the modern bus-enabled DALI light control, you can configure lighting systems alike for entire floors and individual/multiple rooms.

Due to the user -friendly Dali lighting control basics, you do not have to define the division of your lighting units when planning. In addition, no relays are required, which dimmers and switches operate. This is done exclusively using Dali control for light.
