Choosing the right color temperature
The times when light bulbs were only available in a light color - warm white - are over. LED lights make it possible to map a wide variety of color temperatures. The lamps have a spectrum range from warm white over neutral to daylight white.
What is light color anyway?
The color temperature in Kelvin is measured. The following applies: the lower the Kelvin value, the warmer the light color is. Sounds somehow illogical, but unlike Grad Celsius, this is about the color of the light of a self -shining light source. 1,500 Kelvin correspond approximately to the warm light of a candle.
Higher values such as 10,000k correspond approximately a bright blue sky. To create the effect of daylight (around lunchtime), you choose values such as 5,000k. Since this light is much cooler, it has a much higher proportion of blue than candlelight - hence the designation of neutral white.
Distribute the color temperature correctly
Different rooms - different color temperatures. Wherever you want to be awake and fit, the best choice is neutral white. For example in your study or office. In this light, contrasts can be seen well and it helps you to work concentrated. Neutral white is also the optimal selection of light colors for the kitchen, your workshop/hobby room or for activities in the bathroom.
In the living room or bedroom, on the other hand, the decision usually falls on warmer light, as this ideally ensures a relaxed feel-good atmosphere. This means that the color temperature is usually lower. This means that the red content becomes stronger, so the light color is similar to sunrise or lower.
Neutral white lamp as a pleasant work light
The color temperature neutral white is particularly suitable for usable rooms. It creates a similar atmosphere to daylight. It is pleasantly bright, inviting and offers good color rendering. It is mostly used for work or workshop environments such as offices or study. If you are looking for a more pleasant light temperature to work, lights with a color temperature of approx. 3,300 - 5,300k are the right choice.
