Lighting design at the dining table of yoga teacher Nicole Konrad

Nicole Konrad

With yoga teacher Nicole Konrad from Wiehl (NRW), we were allowed to realize a very special lighting creation for her new dining area – individually tailored to her as a person, her living style, and her personal needs.

Based on her preliminary photos, our skapetze® lighting consultation selected the appropriate combination and developed a coherent lighting concept together with her.

The special challenge: A sloping ceiling and a decentralized ceiling outlet – and still, a harmonious multi-pendant light should be perfectly implemented.

The choice fell on:

  •  s.luce® Modular multi-light canopy - in combination with
  • s.luce® Orb glass pendant lights

In the blog post, Nicole explains why light plays a central role for her, what she particularly pays attention to in her furnishings – and why skapetze® and s.luce® were exactly the right decision for her.

Tell us something about yourself personally, both privately and professionally.

I am Nicole Konrad Yoga, a specialized yoga teacher and yoga teacher trainer and author for yoga. Yoga has been an integral part of my life for over 20 years – and I teach it with a lot of experience and sensitivity. It is important to me that yoga not only works on the mat but also strengthens and stabilizes you in everyday life.

I work calmly, clearly, and practically, so that you can sustainably find your balance. My goal is for you to feel more connected, powerful, and internally free.

The quality of a space is particularly important to me. Clarity, calm, and harmony form the foundation of a coherent sense of space for me.

A thoughtful lighting design plays an important role, as it connects architecture, furnishings, and atmosphere into a harmonious overall picture.

The initial situation:

Lots of wood combined with a straight-cut room. Light now has the task of stylishly highlighting warm tones.

Despite the sloping ceiling, light should be moodily suspended.

What does light & furnishing mean to you? What is particularly important to you here?

For me, furnishing and light primarily mean one thing: creating atmosphere. My home is the place where I find peace and can sort my thoughts – that’s why structure, clarity, and a calm basic mood are important to me. This is where light plays a huge role.

Well-placed light can open up spaces, convey calmness, and focus attention on what is essential. I like it when lighting is not only functional but also conveys a feeling: warm, harmonious, and at the same time clearly defined. It’s not about perfection for me, but about a conscious, tidy ambiance that gives strength and inspires me.

Light is for me like a silent design element – it changes the effect of a room without many words, but with a lot of impact.

How did you come to skapetze®?

The company was highly recommended to me – and this recommendation has been confirmed from the very beginning.

The collaboration was characterized by professionalism, a high standard of quality, and a keen sense for details, so I always felt very comfortable and well taken care of.

Dining room light s.luce Orb combination

The implementation:

A rectangular multi-light canopy (s.luce Modular canopy) with two parallel slots was placed above the sloped roof.

In these slots, a total of 6 different glass pendant lights from the s.luce Orb series were integrated, which have a copper-colored gradient

The glass remains clear at the bottom, allowing a bright light to shine as main lighting.

Due to the perfectly chosen sizes in relation to each other, there are no problems with the suspension despite the sloped roof, and the lights are ideally distributed in the airspace.

As a special highlight, the ceiling canopy itself was also equipped with indirect lighting s.luce Aura illuminates, casting a warm light onto the ceiling as an additional accent in the high airspace.

Since the lamp has replaceable sockets, Nicole has integrated dimmable LED bulbs, allowing the dining table lamp to be dimmed to your liking.

Why did you choose the s.luce® Orb?

A "round thing" in the truest sense of the word! The circle represents for me softness, harmony, and balance

It is not directional but connective, creating a natural calm in the room. While clear lines provide structure, order, and orientation, round shapes set a gentle counterpoint.

They take hardness and severity out of the design, make transitions appear smoother, and create a feeling of balance.

For me, this shape is more than a design element: The circle becomes a silent symbol of balance, continuity, and a calm, flowing energy that noticeably shapes the space.

How did you find the exchange/communication with skapetze®?

The exchange was consistently very pleasant. The communication was always quick, friendly, and reliable.

My questions were answered clearly and competently, so I always felt well-informed and well cared for. Overall, the communication was at a very high level.

Were you satisfied with the delivery, assembly, and the final result?

Both the delivery and the communication went absolutely flawlessly and smoothly.

The assembly was somewhat more complex due to the light, but it could be implemented well.

In the end, the effort was worth it – the result is convincing and fits harmoniously into my dining area.

Would you recommend skapetze® or the brand s.luce®?

Yes, definitely. skapetze® and the brand s.luce® have proven reliability and high quality and presented well-thought-out products.

The combination of professional service and high-quality lights is convincing and worth recommending! :-)

s.luce - Let yourself be inspired by light!
