The last digit relates to protection against moisture:

- 1 - vertically occurring dripping water
- 2 - dripping water at an angle
- 3 - Spray water
- 4 - Splashing water
- 5 - Water jets
- 6 - strong water jets
- 7 - temporary immersion
- 8 - permanent immersion
