A track system for lamps is one of the most flexible options for modern room lighting. Instead of mounting each light on its own ceiling outlet, several spots, spotlights or pendant lights are supplied with power via a shared track. This allows the lighting to be planned individually, expanded at any time and adapted to changing room situations.
Whether in the living room, above the dining table, in the kitchen, the hallway or in commercial settings: lamps with a track system make it possible to create both even general lighting and targeted lighting accents. At skapetze®, you will find different systems and components – from the classic 1-phase track system to professional 3-phase track systems, as well as cable systems and solutions for surface-mounted and recessed installation.
Why choose a track system for lamps?
The major advantage of track system lighting lies in its flexibility. A power track can accommodate several lights that can be positioned freely along the track. Many spotlights can also be rotated and swivelled. This means you can place light exactly where it is needed.
A LED track system is ideal, for example, for specifically illuminating worktops in the kitchen, pictures on the wall, furniture, dining areas or architectural details. At the same time, pendant lights with track system can also be combined using suitable adapters.
This turns a simple light track into a complete lighting concept with general lighting, accent lighting and decorative illumination.
1-phase track system – simple and ideal for living spaces
In a 1-phase track system, all connected lights are supplied via a single circuit. When the lights are switched on or dimmed, all lights within the track respond at the same time.
This technology is particularly interesting for private living areas where separate switching groups are not required. Typical applications include kitchens, dining rooms, living rooms, hallways or bedrooms.
Various track lights, spots and pendant lights can also be combined. This makes the system suitable for both functional and decorative lighting concepts.
A well-known example is the Paulmann URail system. The Paulmann track system offers numerous components, connectors, spots and pendant adapters and is particularly suitable for flexibly planned residential lighting.
3-phase track system – maximum flexibility
If you want to illuminate larger rooms or control multiple light groups independently, a 3-phase track system is often the preferred choice.
Here, the lights within a track can be assigned to different circuits. This makes it possible, for example, to switch three groups separately. That is precisely why this type of power track system is often used in shops, offices, exhibitions, restaurants and other commercial areas.
However, 3-phase technology is also becoming increasingly relevant in modern residential buildings – especially in large open-plan layouts.
At skapetze®, you will find, among other things, SLV track systems, ProLight systems and the Paulmann ProRail system. A professional SLV track system offers a wide selection of tracks, connectors, spotlights and accessories, making complex track layouts possible.
Combine spots and pendant lights on a track system
A modern ceiling light with track system does not have to consist exclusively of classic spotlights anymore. With suitable adapters, pendant lights can also be integrated directly into the power track.
This allows you, for example, to use several pendants above a dining table while also using additional spots for room lighting. This combination is particularly appealing in open-plan living, dining and kitchen areas.
With a pendant light on a track system, you can also position the light far more flexibly than with a fixed ceiling outlet. If the dining table is moved later, the pendant can often also be repositioned along the track.
Our s.luce® complete track sets combine this flexibility with decorative pendant lights and provide ready-made solutions for dining tables and kitchen islands.
Surface-mounted or recessed track system?
The installation method also plays an important role in the selection.
Surface-mounted track systems are installed directly on the ceiling or wall. They do not require a ceiling cut-out and are therefore particularly suitable for renovations, retrofitting and existing buildings. The power track remains visible and deliberately becomes part of the architecture.
A recessed track system, by contrast, is integrated as flush as possible into the ceiling or wall. This creates a particularly minimalist, high-quality appearance. This variant is especially suitable for new builds or renovations where, for example, a plasterboard ceiling is already planned.
Both variants can serve as the basis for a modern lighting track system.
Cable systems for long and unusual room geometries
In addition to classic power tracks, cable systems for lamps offer another flexible lighting option. The lights are positioned along tensioned power cables. This also makes it possible to bridge greater distances or unusual room geometries.
A cable system is particularly interesting if light needs to be routed over longer distances or if classic straight tracks do not suit the architecture optimally.
Which track system is right for you?
The right solution depends mainly on room size, the desired control options and the design. For straightforward residential lighting solutions, a 1-phase system is often sufficient. If several separately switchable light groups or particularly extensive installations are required, a 3-phase system offers significantly more possibilities.
You can then choose between lamps for track systems, spots, spotlights and pendant lights and tailor your lighting precisely to the room.
This makes the track system for luminaires not just a power supply solution, but a flexible foundation for a complete lighting concept – from a single ceiling light on a track system to extensive lighting for entire living and commercial spaces.
