Buy high-quality pedestal lights from skapetze®
Pedestal lights are the small versions of the familiar post lights. As the name suggests, a key element is the base on which the main body of the luminaire sits. Walls or pillars usually serve as such a base. So base lamps are sometimes also referred to as pillar lights.
This type of lighting is particularly popular outdoors as path lighting. These outdoor lamps are very common in many outdoor areas such as the garden, patio or entrance area and are impressive in many respects. Pedestal lights are used to illuminate areas close to the ground and are usually between 40 cm and 50 cm high.
Not just a visual feature, but also a safety feature
The outdoor lights not only provide a more attractive appearance, but are also used as path lighting to provide the necessary safety when walking through the dark. Another security feature provided by outdoor lighting is burglary protection.
If the garden area or driveway is fitted with lights, burglars cannot find their way to the house under cover of darkness. If there is a house with lighting and a house without lighting next to it, it is logical to choose the house in the dark.
Special outdoor design
Skirting lights are not only a safety factor, but also a visual highlight. They can be used very well as accent lighting for plants or shrubs, for example. These outdoor lamps are equally suitable for stylishly illuminating the driveway or path to the house.
There is now an enormous selection of path lighting, bollard or pillar lights and pedestal lights. Modern lamps with materials such as stainless steel or aluminum are impressive. Anthracite pedestal lamps are also very popular and harmonize in modern garden areas or driveways.
Classic lights, vintage-look pedestal lamps or antique pedestal lights are also available. The popular globe lights can also be found in most gardens. In this variant, the frame is crowned by a luminous sphere.
The round body in opal white creates a particularly attractive and elegant look. The light is so softly glare-free that the surroundings are evenly illuminated. This variety means that the right outdoor lighting can be found for every home.
Quality in outdoor areas - what needs to be considered?
It is essential to ensure the right quality for path, bollard or pedestal lights. The constant outdoor use of the light means that it is exposed to weather influences such as rain, hail, snow or sunlight. In order to enjoy individual lighting in the garden, patio or driveway for a long time, attention should be paid to the protection class, test marks and material.
The minimum requirement for outdoor lighting is protection class IP44. This characteristic describes the protection against splashing water on all sides. With protection class IP44, the second digit "4" refers to water protection. The first digit means that foreign bodies with a diameter of one millimeter or more cannot get through these models. Fine dust can enter, but insects or dirt cannot.
Once you have found the right luminaire, the question arises as to where it should be mounted. These are often Outdoor lamps on an elevation such as a wall. They can then be screwed directly to the base of the pedestal. On the ground, pedestal lights should be mounted on a frost-proof foundation or a similarly firm base. This ensures that the light is not knocked over and damaged by wind or other influences.
Great additional features of pedestal lights
In addition to the ability to charge themselves via the sun, there are also other pedestal lights with great additional functions. For example, there is the choice of a light with a motion detector, which is a very popular feature of modern lighting. The light only comes on when someone enters the radius of movement. This saves electricity and money and, in the case of solar-powered lights, conserves the battery.
The angle of detection should be taken into account and set correctly. If the angle is too large, adjacent properties or roads can trigger the lamps. If the angle is too small, the exact position has to be found and you have to search around in the dark for a long time. The radius should be set individually to guarantee pleasant lighting.
