Stairwell lighting uniquely staged
Anyone who has a staircase in their house often faces the dilemma of how to ideally implement the lighting in the stairwell. A combination of safety lighting and appealing design should be created to best connect lighting effects and protection against accidents. We explain how to best showcase your stairwell lights.
Stairwell lighting literally serves as a "guiding light" to help homeowners or guests find their way to the next floor or down to the basement. Even the eye is guided in the appropriate direction.
Different types of lighting for the stairs
There are various ways to provide lighting in the stairwell. Those with ample space can use representative hanging lights & stairwell pendant lights (also two- or multi-bulb) for impressive lighting. Wall lights are also always an option for the stairwell and often transition directly from the hallway or corridor into the stair area. Here, various colors like classic black or white and shapes can be used to match the respective interior.
Direct stairwell lighting
In addition to or as an alternative to the classic wall lights, LED- recessed wall spots at the height of the stair step ensure good visibility of the step itself and illuminate it effectively. The wall lights come in various colors and shapes. White, black, or anthracite are popular wall light colors that provide timeless and neutral beautiful lighting for the stairs.
With this direct lighting method using modern LED technology, stair steps are well visible. This can be important as a guiding light, especially for children or elderly people.
The classic remains ceiling lamps or ceiling spotlights in the stair area, as a well-planned ceiling lighting with spots illuminates specifically and can be individually planned.
Indirect LED stair lighting without classic lights
Indirect lighting of the stair step can be realized using LED strips and is a popular alternative to classic wall lights. Such an LED strip should meet the latest standards. With inexpensive hardware store LED strips, you usually won't have long-lasting enjoyment, or the lighting effect is disappointing. There are now effective high-performance LED strips that are so bright that they can even make additional lighting in the stairwell unnecessary.
The LED strips are either laid along a stair joint along the stairway or milled into the wood below the stair steps. This is best implemented directly by the stair step provider for you.
You can also do it yourself!
With some handy skills, you can also do this yourself. A narrow cooling profile for LED strips is installed in the milling of the stair step, and the LED strip is placed and connected within it.
Depending on the choice of milling width, size of the cooling profile, and the LED strips used, you can influence the LED brightness. The great advantage of LED strips is certainly that they can be easily controlled in terms of time and color via wall switch, remote control, smartphone, or tablet (via app). They can also be dimmed.
This results in a very large lighting scope, and the steps can be illuminated exactly according to individual needs. With us, you will find LED stairwell lights in professional quality.
Handrail lighting as a beautiful lighting element in the stairwell
A lit handrail can also be wonderfully showcased as a lighting element in the stairwell. Safety and design go hand in hand here as well. An LED strip on the back of the handrail can flexibly follow the course of the steps.
Connections of the lights for stair lighting
No matter how beautiful stair lighting may be – it must also be feasible in some way. Therefore, a power connection at the beginning or end of the staircase is essential. The (LED) stair lighting is then routed as invisibly as possible to the power source via the wall mounting at the handrail or the stair construction.
