Cri / ra

The color rendering index is given as CRI (color rendering index) or RA value. The higher the Cri value, the better the color rendering and the more natural the colors in the light. This is particularly important in some areas, for example with the hairdresser, because hair coloring is about nuances and a brown tone should not appear reddish due to the light. The CRI value is measured in numbers of 1 to 100, where 100 is the best indication and stands for natural color rendering as in sunlight.

There are also regulations in this area of color rendering, whereby the EU regulation only allows lamps with a CRI or RA value of more than 80. In the case of external lighting or in industry, poorer values are then allowed, the minimum is 65 CRI.

If the RA or CRI is color rendering index in a high range, the colors are naturally appearing and also perceived more pleasantly, which is why it should be observed when buying a lamp. The color rendering is one of many quality features of light.
