Degradation

If LEDs lose luminosity and decreases their luminous flux, one speaks of degradation. Older LED lamps then give less light than at the beginning. Even if LED lamps promise a very long lifespan, the luminosity can subside if used incorrectly or after a large number of operating hours.

However, the life duration for LED lights in hours takes exactly this degradation into account. So the LEDs shine longer than the lifespan specified, but their luminosity is significantly reduced afterwards. With other lamps, this process of degradation still comes into force a lot earlier.

If you want to slow down the process now, you should definitely pay attention to the correct use of the lamp, because false operating states can lead to an accelerated aging of the LEDs. This includes, for example, overheating, moisture or chemical influences. If you prevent such poor influences, an LED lamp can achieve a long service life of up to 20 years.
