Electronic Ballast

An electronic ballast (EB) is an electronic circuit used in lighting technology to operate fluorescent lamps and other gas-discharge lamps. The EB converts the alternating current from the power grid to a higher frequency and reduces the voltage to the level required to ignite the lamp and ensure it operates smoothly. Compared to magnetic ballasts, ECGs are more energy-efficient because they consume less energy and thus help extend the lamps’ service life. In addition, an ECG can also produce higher luminous efficacy and better color rendering.
