ENEC

ENEC is an English acronym that stands for European Norm Electrical Certification and is the European safety certification mark for electrical engineering products, which include lamps. It is awarded by neutral and objective testing and certification bodies in Europe and is then indicated in conjunction with the identification number of the respective testing institute. In Germany, for example, this would be the number 10 for the VDE (short for Verband der Elektrotechnik). If a lamp bears this ENEC symbol, it meets all the necessary standards of the applicable European directives, in particular EN 60598 and VDE 0711. In the lighting sector, it is also awarded for ballasts and transformers.  In addition, there is ENEC+, which can be found on LED lights and LED modules and, like ENEC, is issued in Germany by the VDE or the TÜV. This symbol indicates to consumers that the labeled LED lamp operates properly and that the product specifications are accurate. It protects consumers, so to speak, from accidentally purchasing defective goods, as these products have been tested beforehand and have successfully passed the tests.
