Half -night

The so -called half -night operation often also referred to as half -switching is used in street lighting to save energy in the low -traffic times. Individual lamps are not simply switched off, but are only shut down in their lamp performance, as it can occur in the lighting with complete switch -off. In the case of lights that are equipped with just one light source, the performance of a light point is then reduced from, for example, 80 watts to lower 50 watts. In part, only street lamps that have two or more lights on their mast can be partially switched off, or two lamps shine, so that at least one lamp provides light. On the other hand, if it is a single lamp, only the performance can be reduced for half -night operation. With the help of this half -night operation, energy is saved without endangering the safety in road traffic. In addition, this energy saving also minimizes the costs. However, it is always a prerequisite that the street lighting used in the city is also suitable for such a half -night operation. If this is not the case, a retrofitting is recommended, since this is definitely worth it, at least in the long run.
