Light distribution

The light distribution describes how the light of a light source or lamp is distributed in a room or on an area. It includes the direction of radiation, intensity and uniformity of light, which significantly influences visual comfort and the atmosphere. The distribution depends on the construction of the lamp, the beam angle, reflectors or diffusers used as well as the position of the light source.

It is differentiated between direct lighting in the light, in which light is targeted on an area, and indirect light distribution, in which light is reflected on blankets or walls in order to achieve a soft, glare -free illumination. Combined light distributions use both approaches for versatile applications.

A well thought -out light distribution is essential for optimal space illumination, be it to create a pleasant atmosphere in the living room, for glare -free lighting workplaces or for accentuation of certain objects. It contributes to the efficiency and functionality of modern lighting systems.
