Wayfinding Lights

As the name suggests, wayfinding lights are used to help people find their way around a building or outdoor area. They enable users to find their way quickly and enhance safety, for example, in long hallways, walkways, or stairways. Wayfinding lights—also known as marker lights—typically remain on continuously, albeit sometimes only dimly, to provide guidance even in relatively dark conditions. Floor lamps or wall sconces are typically used for this type of lighting, as they can be installed in a row to mark the path or illuminate hazardous areas such as steps. They are also used for escape routes and emergency exits, where they are required by law in public buildings for emergency situations. Orientation lighting is usually indirect lighting, which can be implemented in particularly innovative ways using LEDs. Not only are they energy-efficient, but they can also be built into, for example, a stair handrail or directly into the edges of steps. After all, even though orientation lighting serves an important purpose, it should still look attractive and be decorative as well.
