Cleanroom Lights

Cleanroom lights are lamps that can be used in rooms with high standards for cleanliness and hygiene—such as operating rooms. In these rooms, it is particularly important that all equipment, including the lights, comply with all hygiene regulations. Cleanroom lights typically have a protection rating of at least IP 65, as they must sometimes withstand cleaning with disinfectants. Such lights are used not only in operating rooms but also frequently in production facilities in the food and pharmaceutical industries, in microelectronics manufacturing, and in rooms with IT equipment—anywhere where even the smallest particles could cause damage. For this reason, the design of cleanroom lights avoids unnecessary gaps or indentations, as these could allow unwanted dirt deposits or microorganisms to form and accumulate. Visually, these lights are therefore very minimalist and practical in design. LEDs, tri-band fluorescent lamps, and compact fluorescent lamps are all used as light sources for cleanroom lights. LEDs are particularly well-suited due to their long service life, as replacing lights in cleanrooms is a very labor-intensive process. Cleanroom lights are, after all, designed for very specific requirements.
