Protective tension

The so-called protective small tension means a particularly low electrical voltage, which is also referred to as a low-voltage voltage. It is no more than 50 volts with alternating current and a maximum of 120 volts with DC voltage. The protective small voltage protects particularly well against an electric blow, since it is not only very low, but also separated from circuits with higher voltage - it is therefore a protective measure in the lighting range.

Luminaires with protection class III are equipped with such a protective small voltage for operation and thus offer good protection against electric shocks for direct and indirect touch - no health consequences or even damage can be expected here. These lamps are fed by the conventional circuit, but are always safely isolated from it.
