Cove lights

So-called cove lights are used to illuminate the edges of the ceiling—that is, the edge or the curved transition from the wall to the ceiling. This area is also referred to as a cove, a term derived from the French word *voúte*, from which the name of the light fixture also originates. Cove lights provide indirect lighting in a room, making the space appear larger by illuminating the ceiling edges—which is why this type of lighting works well even in smaller rooms. The light emitted by such cove lights is largely shadow-free thanks to light-directing measures such as reflectors or prisms. This light is usually generated by LED strips or rod-shaped fluorescent lamps. Additionally, it is possible to install light fixtures that form the cove themselves. Especially in vaulted cellars, but also in living areas, cove lights create a beautiful aesthetic and provide the right ambiance.
