Strain relief

A strain relief is a technical component that relieves stress at the cable connection points so that no tension is applied to the connection. It is therefore a protective device for flexible electrical cables and hoses that complies with the EN 62444 standard. Strain relief devices are usually metal or plastic clamps, but cable glands can also protect electrical connection cables from being pulled out. Such strain relief devices are also known by technical terms such as clamping nipples or cable suspensions and, for safety reasons, should never be overlooked. For a pendant light or hanging lamp, the following must be observed: If it is not mounted directly below the electrical outlet using a spacer hanger, strain relief must be installed at the point where the lamp is suspended.
