Strain relief

The strain relief is a technical component that relieves the cable's junctions, so that there is no train on the connection. It is therefore a protective device for flexible electrical lines and hoses, which is standardized according to EN 62444. The strain relief is usually metal or plastic clamps, but also cable screw connections can protect electrical connection cables from tearing out.

Such a strain relief is also known among technical terms such as clamping nipples or cable suspension and should never be forgotten for safety reasons. In the case of a hanging lamp or pendant lamp, the following must be observed: If this is not attached directly under the power outlet with a spacer hanger, a strain relief must be attached to the point where the lamp has been suspended.
