Louis Poulsen VL 56 pendant light
Description
Description
With the VL 56 pendant light, you bring a true Danish design classic by Louis Poulsen into your home. Vilhelm Lauritzen designed the light in 1956 for Folkets Hus in Copenhagen – now known as the Vega concert hall – where it still hangs above the bar to this day. In 2023, the pendant light was reissued in chrome or polished brass with only minor adjustments.
The pendant light directs its light downward without glare. A radial perforation pattern around the opening creates soft transitions between light and dark as well as a decorative play of shadows on the shade. This makes the VL 56 particularly well suited above the dining table, in the kitchen or in the living room.
It is operated with a E27 socket with a maximum of 40 watts; the bulb is available separately and the light is dimmable when used with a suitable bulb. With a canopy and a 4 m long white textile cable, the light can be positioned flexibly. Note: The brass version is untreated and develops a natural patina over time.
