Fan lamps in the test: An illuminated ceiling fan can be compared in these functions.
5 min Time to read
"Unlike other fans, a ceiling fan distributes the air throughout the room, providing cooling and, in combination with light, also providing the right brightness - and all with just a single ceiling connection. But that's not all that fan lamps can offer you!"
Our ceiling fans
We have also tested our ceiling fans in other functions, because these days, like almost everything else in the lighting sector, they are usually equipped with high-quality LED technology. An LED ceiling fan is therefore a long-lasting and energy-efficient replacement for your ceiling light.
In our test of fan lamps, ceiling fans with light receive an additional plus point in addition to LED lighting, as they can be used all year round, as they have advantages not only in summer.
In addition to the much-desired cooling on hot days, a fan lamp provides warm air in winter and serves as additional heating, so to speak. For this, your fan must have a so-called forward and reverse function, which is sometimes also referred to as clockwise and anti-clockwise rotation.
If your ceiling fan with light rotates in the opposite direction in winter, it distributes the warm heating or fireplace air that has built up under the ceiling evenly throughout the room and thus lands higher up in our ranking. A fan lamp can therefore be a real all-round solution.
Modern design fans with lighting – also a visual highlight
Not only should they be practical and functional, but in our fan lamp test we also looked at the design of ceiling fans with lights. The Spanish lighting brand FARO Barcelona in particular knows how to turn these into a decorative design object.
Whether in the trendy industrial style, in the vintage look or with a wooden look , Skapetze offers you a large selection of different fan lamps . There is even something in the range for those who find large rotor blades rather annoying.
Some versions have plain white or even completely transparent fan blades - here the ceiling fan appears invisible and the light is the only thing that takes center stage. No matter what style of living you have, we should have a fan lamp to suit you!
Four ceiling fan models in direct comparison
We would like to introduce you to our four favorites, which we have compared in all of these features: First and foremost, three fan lamps from the FARO Barcelona brand, which offers by far the largest selection of designs and options in fan settings in our Skapetze range.
LED ceiling fan Hydra
The LED ceiling fan Hydra, also from the Spanish lighting brand FARO Barcelona, is in no way inferior. A slightly smaller classic model with a diameter of 132 cm and four blades, it is nevertheless suitable for rooms larger than 17.6 m² and also provides energy-saving LED light.
The only thing that this fan lamp model has to offer is 3 speed settings, but this is perfectly adequate due to its smaller size and the correspondingly smaller rooms. However, it has one clear plus point: a remote control that allows you to operate it very conveniently.
LED ceiling fan Poros
Again with 3 speed levels, a diameter of 132cm and suitable for rooms larger than 17.6m², the LED ceiling fan Poros from FARO Barcelona is.
With its three wings and pleasant design in a light wood look, it appears less striking and blends in more inconspicuously into your rooms - a perfect match for simple furnishing styles without a lot of frills.
Oleiros ceiling fan
The Oleiros ceiling fan from Globo has an even more discreet design with its transparent blades. This lighting brand does not have quite as much choice as Faro Barcelona, but still has some ceiling fans with lighting in their range that are worth mentioning.
The Oleiros ceiling fan with a diameter of 132 cm performed particularly well in our fan test, because this product can also be controlled by remote control, has a return option with three levels and can be installed on sloping ceilings.
LED fan Enigma
Another ceiling fan from the manufacturer Globo from our fan lamp test is the LED fan Enigma. In vintage style and with a matching pull switch, it impresses with reversible rotor blades, a reverse option and three speeds.
An additional feature of this 105cm diameter ceiling fan with lamp are the three LED bulbs, which provide extra brightness.
Test conclusion for controlling ceiling fans with lamps: Simple and convenient
As has already become clear in the direct comparison, there are different ways of operating the fan. In the past, you usually had to pull on a chain hanging down from the fan to start it. Such a pull switch is still available on request, especially in retro versions, but there are now more convenient ways.
Wall switches make operating a fan lamp just as easy as any conventional lighting. The ceiling fan light can be switched on or off and the speed regulated at the touch of a button or using a rotary control. The most convenient solution, however, is probably remote control - this means you can adjust the intensity even at night from your bed.
In addition, the light and the fan can be controlled separately, so that the ceiling fan with lighting continues to provide pleasant coolness even without shining brightly. So as far as the operating options are concerned, our fan lamp test shows just as many options as anywhere else.
Installation and positioning in the test: What you need to pay attention to when using fan lamps
It may seem a bit complex at first glance, but installing a fan lamp isn't much more difficult than installing a light. First of all, there obviously needs to be a power outlet and you usually need to allow a bit more space for a ceiling fan than for conventional lighting.
It is very important to maintain a certain minimum distance from furniture, curtains and other surrounding objects and also to take the ceiling weight into account. Your fan lamp should ultimately be able to bear this weight. To prevent colds, you should also avoid too great a difference in temperature.
It is best not to run your ceiling fan at the highest setting, especially at night. But that is all there is to consider. Fan lamps also impress in the test with their easy installation. If you are still not sure whether you can do it yourself or simply don't want to waste time on it, our own installation service will be happy to do it for you.
