Own furniture series KLUNI

In 2024, Sabine Buttenhauser developed her own furniture series, which is produced in Austria. With three surfaces/colors and six sizes, this series offers diverse design possibilities. The different versions provide optimal storage solutions and make the furniture practical companions in everyday life.

The simple design harmoniously fits into any furnishing style and can be manufactured in custom dimensions and colors upon request. “Everyone can bring kluni home!”

With sa‘butti, spatial design is experienced anew. Spaces are designed according to individual visions, with a clear goal: to unite aesthetics, functionality, and personality.

skapetze®: Which living trends do you see as defining for 2025, and how do these influence the choice of lighting?

Sabine: In general, living for me is individual, which is also reflected in the living trend 2025. Colorful to subtle, patterns of all kinds to solid. Modernly interpreted materials and sustainability. Depending on the furnishing style, the lighting is then adjusted. Sometimes loud, sometimes pushed into the background.

skapetze®: How do you think the role of lighting in the design of living spaces will look in the future? Will it be more functional, aesthetic, or a combination of both?

Sabine: Overall, the role of lighting in future living space design will represent a harmonious connection between functionality and aesthetics. The ability to transform spaces through targeted lighting design while fulfilling practical needs will be crucial.

skapetze®: What materials and colors will dominate interior design in 2025, and how can these be showcased with the right lighting?

Sabine: Brown and earth tones, natural materials and sustainable design, reflective surfaces, and vintage statements will define the furnishing trend of the new year 2025. 

For lamps, it is chrome surfaces. Shapes from nature, glass with spherical forms, rod systems, delicate lights with ropes, and bright colors, of course adjusted to the respective furnishing style.

skapetze®: How do you integrate smart lighting solutions into a modern, stylish interior? What are the most important technological developments we can expect in 2025?

Sabine: When planning a new room or a renovation, smart lighting solutions should be considered from the start. This includes selecting suitable fixtures and considering the placement of switches and control systems. Depending on the room experience you want to have, colors, shapes, and brightness of lamps are chosen.

The compatibility between different smart home devices will continue to increase and become more automated. AI will, of course, come to the forefront and be able to offer personalized lighting options by analyzing user behavior and making automatic adjustments.

Sustainability is a major topic, further enhanced by LED technology, which will produce more energy-efficient solutions.

skapetze®: What role does light play in creating a feel-good atmosphere, and how will this approach evolve in 2025?

Sabine: Light is a crucial factor for well-being in indoor spaces and significantly influences both the mood and functionality of a room.

Through intelligent systems, personalized and innovative technologies will enable the creation of an even more individualized atmosphere in the future.

The combination of aesthetic design and technological advancements will help ensure that spaces not only look beautiful but also actively support the well-being of their users.

skapetze®: How can lighting help support the trend towards multifunctional spaces, e.g., living rooms that also serve as work areas?

Sabine: Through flexible lighting solutions, intelligent control systems, and genomic design, an environment can be created that supports both productive work and relaxing moments.

The integration of smart technologies will further enhance this approach and enable users to optimally adapt their spaces to their needs.

Sabine: Dimmable LED lights are energy-efficient and long-lasting. Lights made from sustainable materials such as wood, metal, bamboo, paper.

Integration of daylight through open room concepts and mirrors that reflect natural light into the room.

skapetze®: What strategies do you recommend for people looking for stylish, trend-conscious lighting but have a limited budget?

Sabine: Most of my clients have a limited budget. It has become a hallmark of sa`butti that clients can plan a great spatial experience with a realistic budget.

Depending on the requirements of the room, attention should be paid to:

Sabine: Every person is unique. And just as individual should be the lighting of every living area. The various light sources influence our emotions, perceptions, and our mood.

The right balance and guidance of lighting can contribute to an increase in quality of life, work productivity, and overall health. Therefore, it is important to consciously design lighting and adapt it to the needs of people.

skapetze®: What is your personal favorite aspect of the combination of lighting and interior design trends? And which trend would you like to see more of in the future?

Sabine: That you can create accents with furniture, colors, or lights and thus achieve a completely different spatial experience. I find the interplay of these factors incredibly exciting!

It’s all about the right combinations! No matter which trends. I always prioritize the users and individuality. Because then, something new and individual always emerges!
