Motion detector

A Motion detector is an electronic device that notices movements in the area equipped with a sensor and reacts automatically to it. This reaction can be shown, among other things, in the approach of a light, but such a sensor is also often used in surveillance, with an alarm starts, for example, when moving.

The largest area of application provides the Outer lighting such as Garden lamps, Drive-in lights or the house entrance lighting. Here, a motion detector ensures quick finding when you arrive or for safety, so as not to get off the way. He also makes an annoying search for the light switch unnecessary in the dark. In addition, a combination with a light sensor is advisable to avoid switching processes in daylight.

Motion detectors for lights are still installed indoors. Here you are increasingly used in the living area or in office space to save energy, because it is not too bad if you forget to switch off the light - the sensor does not run out of its own with any further movement.

Motion detectors or more precise presence detectors work with different techniques. Either they work with passive infrared sensors (abbreviated with PIR) or high frequency sensors (abbreviated with HF). The switch -on duration is then controlled via a timer and can be determined individually.
