Type of protection

Electronic devices can be divided into different types of protection. These are with the so -called IP-Thetted what comes from English and for Ingress protection or International protection. The IP certification consists of 2 digits, e.g. IP44. The first digit indicates the protection of a device against foreign bodies like dust. The second number stands for water protection. A lamp with IP44 is protected against solid foreign bodies from a diameter of 1mm and against all -round pointed water.

Wherever a lamp could come into contact with water or dirt, the IP protection type should also be taken into account. This is particularly the case in the outside area, but as well as in the interior, as in the bathroom or kitchen, good protection is important. This is the only way to reduce life or damage. In general, the higher the IP pays, the better the lamp is protected. Which IP protection type is actually needed depends on the location of the lighting from, whereby a simple distinction inside and outdoors is not sufficient.
