Electronic devices can be classified into different protection classes. This is especially true for outdoor use, but adequate protection is just as important indoors—for example, in the bathroom or kitchen. This is the only way to ultimately prevent a shortened service life or damage. As a general rule: The higher the IP rating, the better the light fixture is protected.
