White-White Mix

The term “white-white mix” refers to the color mix of lamps with a white light color. They thus emit light in three different shades of white: warm white, neutral white, and cool white (or daylight white). This type of white-white mix is primarily used in adaptive lighting, which dynamically adjusts to the time of day. For example, the light switches to a warm white color—or shifts toward warm white—as soon as morning or evening begins. This phase of the day also contains a higher proportion of red in natural sunlight, as is the case with the warmer or more yellowish white tone. Daylight white is then used more often around noon, since the blue component is slightly higher at that time. All of this is only possible with a light source that features a white-white mixture.
