Accent lighting

As the name suggests, the accent lighting is used to set accents. Accented lighting is used, for example, to highlight the architecture of a building or to stage certain furniture, decorative objects or images. For this purpose, lights with a small beam angle are usually used between 10 ° and 40 °.

The placement and distance of the lamp to the desired object also play a role in the accent lighting, since the light cone is significantly narrower the closer the lamp is above the object, which is to be illuminated. However, if the light source is further away, the light cone will also grow larger. Here it should be ensured that the area to be accentuating or the object is nicely illuminated without leaving something important in the shade or illuminating too much of the surrounding.

The accent lighting lives from various illuminance and plays with strong contrasts and hard shadows. It varies the brightness and incidence of light, although it only comes into its own if the brightness of the accent lighting is above the level of general lighting.
