The origins
In the Turciù series, with the first lamp created by Enzo Catellani, the name can be traced back to the arbitrary shape and bending of the flexible arms, whereby primarily the possibility of interaction is highlighted with the Lamp object subject.
With the standing lamp Sottovento from Catellani & Smith created Enzo Catellani an object with a strong presence and lively charisma. It consists of flexible arms that can be moved in any direction. Each arm is equipped with an E14 lamp, so that the exact optics and lighting effect of the Sottovento lamp can also be influenced by choosing the lamps (these are included in the LED variant), but of course also by the arbitrary alignment of the many flex arms. They are all based in a wide rod made of iron, which gives the lamp a solid base - although the organically curved ostrich of slim arms plays and lightweight, like the branches of a tree that are moved by the wind. The lamp has a dimmer on the cable.
