Description
This table lamp designed by Wilhelm Wagenfeld in 1924 is often referred to as "the Bauhaus light". Due to the spherical lampshade made of white opal glass, evenly gently light is radiated into the surrounding room.
Already at the age of 24, Wagenfeld designed this masterpiece of industrial design in the Weimar Bauhaus as part of a task from the head of the metal workshops, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy. According to the designs from the Bauhaus, Wagenfeld's attitude to the Bauhaus should have products that have been designed here an industrial character and look accordingly. In fact, however, the lamp is handmade, as is the lights from Tecnolumen, which are manufactured according to Wagenfeld designs.
The continuous numbering of the lights in connection with the Bauhaus and Tecnolumen sign sees as a tribute to this unique design. "The Bauhaus-Lucht" is considered a masterpiece that on the one hand illustrates the philosophy of the Bauhaus and, on the other hand, documents the manufacturer Tecnolumen to this type of design.
This lamp Wagenfeld was awarded in 1982 with the German German design award "good form" and is also one of the "best 200 designs for the year 2000".
