Reflector and reflector lamp

A reflector in a light fixture uses reflective surfaces toShielding the light source and the light path. If these surfaces are highly reflective, they act as reflectors that direct the light; depending on the reflector’s design, this results in different light intensity distributions and beam angles. If, on the other hand, the surfaces are painted white, the light is scattered and distributed diffusely. In general, the efficiency and theLight Distribution largely depends on the installation depth of theLight source as well as the size of the reflector.

If such a reflector no longer needs to be added separately to a light fixture but is already permanently installed, the light is known as a “reflector lamp.” It has a glass bulb with an internal mirror coating, which controls both the beam angle and theLight Guidance ...are used. Built-in reflectors can be found, for example, inGeneral-purpose incandescent light bulbsLED Light sources, PAR lamps, and high-voltage and low-voltage halogen lamps.

Reflectors and reflector lamps are often used in retail stores orArchitectural Lighting, but also anywhere else where you want to create accent lighting. Reflector lamps are just as well-suited for highlighting and showcasing individual areas or objects.
