The origins
Fil de Fer is a lamp made of modelled and braided aluminium wire, illuminated inside by tiny lamps. Conceived and designed by Enzo Catellani, it is his favourite creation. It was created almost 20 years ago for a special order, but was not used for the original project and remained in his workshop. Everyone who saw it when it was switched on was enchanted by something special and magical about it. So Enzo Catellani decides to continue working on the lamp. The lamp comes onto the market and becomes Catellani & Smith's most representative model.
At first glance, it is not obvious what the Fil de Fer Nuvola pendant lamp with its elongated silhouette is supposed to represent; only the name "Nuvola" provides the necessary clue. "Nuvola" means "cloud" in Italian - the Fil de Fer Nuvola pendant lamp, which is available in different sizes and is meticulously handcrafted from woven aluminium wire, appears similarly airy and filigree. Due to its special structure and dimensions, it provides a particularly atmospheric room and mood lighting. Nice to know: the Fil de Fer is a project from the heart of old master Enzo Catellani. Originally commissioned for a project almost twenty years ago, the elegant luminaire was so well received that the project was put into series production and eventually became one of the most iconic luminaires or figureheads of the traditional Catellani & Smith company. Due to its concise and elegant appearance, the Fil de Fer Nuvola pendant lamp is almost exclusively suitable for upscale interiors with a representative character and high ceilings. It enhances the aesthetics of more traditional furnishing styles as well as contemporary interiors. It is supplied with a transformer and can be dimmed on site.
