GU5.3 (MR16) for your home

MR16 lamps can be identified by their three-letter marking (according to ANSI). The letter sequence identifies a specific lamp type, followed by the wattage, lamp shape and beam angle. The number 16 refers to the diameter of "16 eighths" inch (16/8" or 51 mm).

Most MR16 lamps with a GU5.3 pin base are made for 12 volts AC, the lamps for 230/240 volts usually have a GU10 bayonet base to avoid confusion.

Many LED-based MR16 lamps are also compatible with 12 V DC - but in some cases the electrical performance data may change.

Classic applications for MR16
