Gaming Lighting

Gaming lighting - indispensable for your gaming setup

For a dense atmosphere, in role-playing games as well as first-person shooters or the latest AAA titles in general: Gaming lighting envelops your study, living room or gaming room in lots of colourful lights. Not only does it look impressive and provide you with exciting colour games, at the same time the interactive gaming lighting allows you to immerse yourself even more in the atmosphere of the game.

The perfect gaming lighting in just a few steps

What exactly do we mean by "gaming lighting"? This does not, of course, mean the usual lamps and fluorescent materials that usually adorn our ceilings and emit a bright or rather warm, yellowish light. Gaming lighting for gamers in the gaming room should and must be spectacular after all, we associate it with many exciting moments in virtual worlds and unforgettable adventures alone or with friends, where we and you relax and recharge your batteries after work. Accordingly, our gaming setup must be well illuminated.

The Lighting concepts are far more colourful, in technical jargon we speak of RGB lighting concepts. This means that these Illuminants not only display many different colours (in the RGB spectrum), but also enable a smooth change between different colours. This, in turn, is a very special aspect that distinguishes such gaming lighting and highlights your gaming room.

At best, the illuminants and lamps should be able to respond to the gaming action. Many of the intelligent "smart lights" can do just that. So if the atmosphere in the virtual game world is gloomy, the luminaires in the gaming room would darken; if there are spectacular explosions, they would light up reddish, yellowish and orange. Interactivity in a class of its own and matching colours! Just the right light for your gaming setup or gaming PC in your gaming room.

What steps are there to consider? We have made you a small but fine checklist:

Consider:

  • Where you want to install lamps or illuminants in the first place, for example on the back of the monitor, on the desk, the walls or the gaming PC
  • Which light sources you prefer, for example larger panels for the wall or ceiling, narrow and very flexible LED strips or classic light bulbs that shine in an exciting RGB spectrum
  • Whether you want to be able to control the lamps intelligently, on the one hand with a remote control and on the other with programmable scenes
  • Whether all light sources or LEDs should be dimmable for your gaming setup

By the way: the exciting gaming lights look particularly good if you have a transparent or modded gaming PC. Current graphics card models, coolers and processors often already glow in different RGB colours ex works, which cleverly completes your individual lighting concept.

The right colours of gaming lighting

A big advantage is the incredibly wide colour spectrum that high-quality gaming lights reproduce. In this respect, you are very flexible when it comes to the colours you choose. You simply set the colours that you want or that suit the game.

The situation is a little different if the lamps only have a a certain colour or a very limited selection of colours. In this case, you should consider in advance how to combine the individual lamps in your gaming setup as sensibly and coherently as possible, where they will later be located and how, for example, dynamic lights can be harmonised with static lights.

Ultimately, the "right" colours the "right" colours is up to your personal taste. Your "gaming battle station", as the desks and gaming places with atmospheric lights are affectionately called in the jargon, can be motley or only use colours from a certain colour family or very aggressively chosen contrasts instead. Anything is permitted that pleases you and creates atmospheric adventures in lively virtual worlds.

With smart lights, you generally have an important additional advantage because they can adapt very individually not only to what is happening in the game on the monitor, but also with the help of their app. For example, you could programme time-dependent scenes or group certain lights together to control them uniformly.

Lighting behind the gaming PC - for table & monitor

An absolute perennial favourite that provides impressive lighting spectacles. Many gamers and lighting enthusiasts prefer most of their lighting in passive form. This means that the lamps are mounted in such a way that you do not look directly at the lamp at your desk, but instead at the light emitted passively or indirectly - which then illuminates the wall or surrounding furniture, for example. This creates a very dense, even somewhat artistic and creative atmosphere around your gaming PC. In addition, indirect lighting is very advantageous because it never blinds you, even if you want to play a game late at night.

LED strips have proved particularly useful for desks and monitors.

  • They have a very attractive price/performance ratio, especially if you need several strips
  • They are narrow, so they can also be attached to the equally narrow edges of desks
  • They are not too bright
  • They can create optical illusions, for example, when applied correctly, they make individual elements appear to "float
  • Thanks to their flexible shape, you enjoy maximum freedom, even with large curved gaming monitors, for example

For LED lighting with LED strips, we always recommend cooling profiles as protection for your gaming equipment and for the strips themselves, in order to protect both optimally and guarantee a long service life. The first part of your gaming lighting is ready.

Which lighting for PC & console?

Of course, most people immediately think of LED lighting or LED strips. Here you should first get an overview. PC towers with partially transparent housings usually shine very spectacularly by themselves, for which new gaming graphics cards in particular are responsible. Perhaps your tower even has built-in LEDs, which is by no means a rarity nowadays. In this case, it is advisable to use the flexible and discreetly illuminated LED strips to set accents.

The same applies to consoles, although depending on the generation, they usually shine somewhat less impressively than a modern PC tower including hardware. You could frame the console with LED strips or, for example, create a floating effect by adding LED strips to the edge of the table on which the console stands. Again, please make sure to install them correctly with cooling profiles!

Wall lighting for the gaming room

From large-area panels to LED strips to LED lamps for your lamps: variety and your taste determine how you illuminate your gaming room and your gaming setup. Smart lights are a particularly interesting alternative, because you can not only dim them individually or freely define the colour spectrum, the intelligent luminaire can sometimes also react to what is happening in the game and adapt accordingly.

You will also find large and small panels for the wall or, for example, ceiling lights. This way, you can cleverly illuminate the room even if, for example, you don't gamble but work and prefer a somewhat more discreet or bright lighting.
