What does E27 mean?
E27 is probably one of the most common and important screw bases for incandescent lamps. The "E" comes from Thomas Alva Edison an American inventor who concentrated on electricity. This had an immense impact on the entire technical development. The "27" refers to the outer diameter of the base, which is 27mm. You may have heard of the E14 light bulb. This differs only in its 14mm diameter. In contrast to those days, incandescent bulbs are much more efficient. Nowadays, the latest LED technology is available for these connections. This means that almost no heat is emitted to the outside. In addition LED lamps are much more energy-saving. These are also called retrofit lamps.
What shapes do E27 LED lamps have?
