The increased blue content in cold light is above all biologically stimulating because it suppresses melatonin. Since this has a negative impact on our sleep, especially in the early stages, we advise against cold white light in bedrooms! Cold white light is mostly used in technical areas with strong contrasts. Examples of this are in the garage, for warehouses or in surgeries. They are also suitable for setting exciting accents when mixed with warm white luminaires.
Industrial and commercial applications
Because the properties of cool white light are unobtrusive and bright, for example, it is often used in production halls or laboratories. It gives you a particularly precise and high-contrast view for measurements, analyses, for example, and is generally conducive to precise work. It can reduce the frequency of errors and promotes performance potential. Guide values for this are approx. 6,500 Kelvin or more. Light in the cool white range of 5,400 to 6,500 Kelvin produces good colour rendering and thus an optimal daylight atmosphere.
