Ringelpiez INGO MAURER AND TEAM 2016
Ringelpiez is a floor lamp by Ingo Maurer and Team. A ring seems to float in the air. It is supported by a slender black rod made of carbon fibre. LEDs are embedded in the aluminium ring on one side and covered with a diffuser. Connected only by a rod, the ring can be used as an uplight or downlight. The position can be changed with a few hand movements. The rod can be extended from 150 to 210 cm. In the design, care was taken that the cable runs in the rod despite the adjustability, so that Ringelpiez has an extremely clear and light presence. The base is a flat hemisphere made of a slightly rough material in light grey, vaguely reminiscent of the surface of an unknown moon. Two openings in the base form the support for the pole, one for a vertical position, the second for a slight tilt. The position is changed simply by repositioning it. Ringelpiez is a functional and flexible floor lamp that can be used, among other things, as a reading light next to seating furniture or tables. Ringelpiez comes in two versions: it is available with a white or black ring. Ringelpiez can also be used with the Frivoloso shade. Formally, the shade is reminiscent of the folded lampshades from the last century. The Frivoloso shade is available as an accessory in green or white.
