The glass bulb made of mouth-blown crystal glass encloses a dome-mirrored bulb. The base is made of chromed metal. Bulb became part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1968. Ingo Maurer originally chose a 100-watt bulb for design reasons. Bulbs with less power are smaller and not recommended.
