A slender base nestles against a bulbous shape. An industrial motif softened by the gentle curves of mouth-blown glass. The Oda series of table and floor lamps references the stilted shapes of silos, furnaces and water towers of yesteryear. A warm glow brings this industrially charged aesthetic to a softer interior.

Poetic compositions, refined forms and filigree surfaces characterise his designs: Sebastian Herkner, who founded his studio in Offenbach am Main in 2006, creates furniture, luminaires and textiles as well as rooms and installations - often combining contemporary techniques with traditional craftsmanship. Without omitting the importance of material and sensory beauty, the multi-faceted designer pursues a strong conceptual approach: "I transport and interpret characteristics from different social and cultural contexts and translate them into new artefacts," says Sebastian Herkner. The multi-award-winning designer teaches at university, collaborates with trade fairs and museums and works for some of the most renowned design manufacturers of our time. Pulpo got to know the creative mind during various international design fairs when he was still a student. Today, the designer and the House of Design share a close and friendly relationship that enables a dynamic exchange when creative ping-pongs are played over ideas or the ideal design language for pulpo is found.
