Stones hanging on silken threads, or so it seems when looking at the noble Mercury lamps.
The artist & his ambitions
Ross Lovegrove orientates himself strongly on the forms of nature with his luminaire creations. The organic, pleasant shapes combine with the technology of new lighting systems. After studying at Manchester Polytechnic, he received a First Class BA in Industrial Design in 1980. He added a Master of Design in London in 1983.
He worked on well-known works such as the Sony Walkman or for the technology group Apple. He was invited to the Atelier de Nimes with Jean Nouvel and Philippe Starck, where they worked on new designs for Louis Vuitton and Hermes. He designed the Mercury luminaires for Artemide in2011 .
Special shapes, special materials of the Mercury lamps
The Mercury pendant luminaires and ceiling luminaires exert a fascination on the observer even when they are not switched on. The luminaire body made of die-cast aluminium, combined with the stone-like reflecting bodies made of injection-moulded thermoplastic with a metallic surface, suggests a natural and at the same time highly modern environment.
The indirect light emission creates a cosy atmosphere, the light is unobtrusive and yet capable of illuminating the surroundings in great detail. TheMercury by Artemide is available in a small version with five stone- or waterdrop-like shapes or in a large version with ten objects dangling from nylon threads.
You can choose whether you want to bring this luminaire home in the halogen version or with modern LED technology.
Complementing your stylish furnishings
Especially in clean and chic rooms, this luminaire exudes its incomparable charm. Minimalist furniture and tidy, clear colours complement these pendant lights perfectly. We would be happy to advise you on these and many other lamps for the upmarket standard, by telephone, e-mail or even in person.
We look forward to seeing you in our lighting studio in Simbach am Inn!
