What is the difference between RGBW and RGB CCT?

The single colour LED stripe

These have only one colour that can be dimmed up and down. Mostly, these LED strips are available in white, but rarely there are also single-colour LED strips in bright colours.

The CCT LED stripe

CCT means "correlated colour temperature". In effect, this means that you can individually adjust and readjust the desired white tone from cool white to neutral white to warm white with the appropriate remote control or via app.

The RGB LED Stripe

As the name suggests, the primary colours red, green and blue can be displayed individually on this strip. This leads to a selection of 16 million different colour shades when the colours are mixed.

The RGBW LED stripe

This LED strip not only combines the 16 million different colours, but also has an extra area to display the colour white exactly. The RGB strip can also display a white tone with the appropriate setting, but this tone is very cold white due to the high blue content. To meet the ever-increasing demands on LED strips, this combination strip was generated to enable a pure white colour tone.

The RGB + CCT LED stripe

It is the all-rounder among the LED strips, the RGB + CCT LED strip combines the RGB and the CCT stripe. 16 million colourful colours and the exact adjustment of the desired white light colour from cold white (daylight white) to warm white leave nothing to be desired.

The RGBW process produces white light with a rather low colour rendering index . It is therefore not suitable for residential or workplace lighting. It is mostly used as effect or ambient lighting . Coloured or white?

RGBW LED products are equipped with RGB chips just like RGB LED strips, making it possible to generate millions of different colours. The difference to the strips, however, is that RGBW products can also generate white as a light colour. They thus combine all the advantages of single-colour LED strips in terms of efficiency and colour rendering as well as the benefits of RGB LED strips (colourful light with adjustable light colour).

Using a controller such as the "s.Luce iLight wireless controller 5 in 1 Alexa compatible", you can control your LED strips even more easily via voice. You can give voice instructions to adjust the light colour and brightness, for example, to easily adjust the light from bed in the morning without getting up.
