For more than three generations, the Steinhauer Leuchten brand has stood for high-quality lighting design and offers exclusive lamps and luminaires. Especially lamps made of metal have been in great demand lately.
The history of Steinhauer Leuchten
Founded as a small lamp factory on 21 October 1933 in a cellar on the Klinkerstraat in Amsterdam, light bulbs were blown and simple lamps assembled in the family business.
After the war, the family moved on to Apeldoorn, where the business was further developed in an old milk factory. In the following 50s and 60s, the focus was mainly on plastic luminaires, as these were very much in vogue at the time.
"Every holiday and every free hour I spent blowing plastic balls in the warehouse or the factory," says Mark Steinhauer. The latter still runs the company today and has brought it to substantial importance. Steinhauer experienced high growth especially between 1998 and 2002.
Steinhauer produces exclusive lighting
During this period, the focus shifted to expensive lighting in particular. These high-quality products with components from Europe are assembled in the Netherlands, among other places.
Steinhauer exports its innovative yet classic metal lamps and plastic lamps to more than 14 different countries. Germany and Belgium are the main customers. Of course, Steinhauser Leucht is the market leader in the Netherlands and has established a stable position in the market, despite difficult economic phases.

Steinhauer Lighting has consistently implemented the integration of LED lighting in particular, which should prove to be the right path in the long run, although especially in the Netherlands the population prefers "soft light" and LED luminaires were perceived as uncomfortable for a long time. But the fact that Steinhauer has brought together everything from design and development to production in its own company has established itself as a quality predicate "valuable" in the minds of the population.
